BLESSING of the ANIMALS
ceremony will be conducted by
Anita Holmes

Apple Valley, Calif.

Time:  Saturday evening right after supper     ~       Location:   Lake side of main tent

Anita Holmes, who will be leading the Blessing of the Animals, has served as a church pastor and chaplain in various locations across the US.  During her early ministry years, Murphy-Dog (RIP), a graduate of the Oregon Humane Society with a specialty in Pet Therapy, joined her as pastoral associate and continued in that ministry capacity for many years.

Anita's official debut into Bichon circles took place through AppleEaseLSoft's Bichon Frise list on March 23, 1998. On that day, she introduced Bichon Frise Molly Dog, herself (the mama), and Jesse (the papa) to the Community of People Smitten With Little White Fluffbuckets. At that time, the household dogs-in-residence census appeared destined to remain at one (until "pigs fly," was how the papa phrased it). Maddie and Maxie (who had been Anita's mother's dogs) joined the household a couple of years later (Beware of low-flying pigs!).

Anita currently fills her time by tending to about half of Maddie, Maxie, and Molly Dog's every need (After all, she does have the help of the papa). The grrls get her up before dawn to help her stay in shape for the local Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. While the grrls are napping, watching TV with the papa, or romping in the garden, Anita is an artist who makes mobiles, spins, knits, crochets, weaves, and teaches origami. She also is a community advocate for end-of-life care, serves as president of her Toastmasters club, and wonders how she ever found time to work full time. Her on-again / off-again "Bichon Blessings" is a "devotional for people who are devoted to their dogs".

Under the watchful eyes of the grrls, Anita has previously attended Bichon Bashes in New Hampshire, New York, and California, and is very much looking forward to officiating at this year's Blessing of the Animals at the Southeast USA Bichon Bash. She's looking forward to meeting old friends and new in Tennessee!

The days 'til the Bash in Tennessee are really flying ...see you SOON!
